ME TELEVISION TO HOST TELETHON SUPPORTING THE HEALTH ALLIANCE FOR AUSTIN MUSICIANS
Austin, TX (September 5, 2007) – ME Television, the 24-hour regional music and entertainment network, announced today they will devote a full day to a telethon benefiting the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM) in conjunction with the 2nd annual HAAM BENEFIT DAY. Local artists will be featured all day as well as interviews and special guest appearances.
The telethon will include a matching grant of all donations of up to $10,000 from Charity Partners of Austin, a local philanthropy group that supports non-profits and the arts in the greater Austin area.
“ME is excited to support the HAAM BENEFIT DAY event,” said Corrine Perry Rotan, ME Television Director of Marketing. “The vitality of the Austin music scene depends on the health of our musicians and we’re glad to have the opportunity to ensure their well-being.”
The ME Television hosted telethon will kick off on October 2nd at 7:00 a.m. and run until 10:00 p.m., with volunteers running a donation phone line supported by Time Warner Cable-Central Texas. In addition to phone donations, ME Television will coordinate online pledges through the Austin Community Foundation as well as set up tip jar collections in many of the sponsor businesses who are participating in the HAAM Day events. All donors will be eligible for a prize drawing that includes Dell computers and a variety of merchandise donated by sponsors and artists.
ME Television will wrap up the day with a special appreciation party and concert in the ME Studios on South Congress for HAAM staff, board members and major supporters.
“ME Television and their partners have really raised the bar on HAAM BENEFIT DAY this year,” said Carolyn Schwarz, HAAM’s Executive Director. “This will provide such a great opportunity for everyone in the community to get involved by making a donation of any size, or even just turning on their television set and tuning into Time Warner channel 15 to find out more about what HAAM and the local music scene is all about.”
